What is a PBX?

PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange. It’s a private telephone network used within a company that enables users to communicate internally and to share external phone lines. It can use different communication channels such as VoIP, ISDN or analogue and be on-premise or hosted.

It’s an ideal solution to reduce your telephony costs as it enables your users to have access to several lines while using the same system instead of having a line for each user. It will also allow you to have more phones than lines. The key features provided include extensions, transfer calls, voicemail and call queues.

A PBX includes a telephone trunk, a computer that manages the switching of calls within the PBX, in and out of it and a network of lines.

At Ghekko Networks, we supply a large range of PBX phone systems from all the main manufacturers such as Nortel or Avaya.
