The Answer DN feature allows you to answer a call ringing at another phone. UCx does not have an Answer DN feature, however it can be configured to have a similar behavior. This page describes two methods to configure the Answer DN behaviour on the UCX.
The Background Music feature allows users to listen to music through their telephone speakers. While background music is active, if you receive an incoming call on the second line of your phone, background music will terminate automatically.
The Boss-Secretary solution allows secretaries to monitor the extensions of one or more bosses. Secretaries have the option of answering a call on behalf of the boss, place the call on hold and then picked up by the boss.
There are several options available on when and where you want to start recording a call. This section describes each option and how to configure them.
This Dictation Service allows a user to dictate a letter via the telephone and send the letter as a WAVE, GSM or Ogg-Vorbis file to another user to be typed up and/or transcribed.
The Alert Info field is used to configure distinctive ring tones for incoming calls. This field is present in the following PBX Configuration pages: Inbound Routes, Queues, Ring Groups, Follow Me, Parking Lot & Directories.
Each extension can have the ability to receive faxes sent to their extension directly. A direct DID would typically be associated with an extension that has the fax ability enabled.
The Group Pickup feature applies to Nortel phones and SIP phones. It allows the definition of Call Groups and Pickup Groups. The Pickup Group defines which Call Groups the extension can answer.
The Hotdesking feature allows you to temporarily assign an extension to a phone that normally uses another extension (or does not have any extension assigned).
UCx supports the following languages: English (default, UK, Australia), Spanish, French, Russian and Chinese-Madarin. There are three methods to change the language prompts on your UCx system.
When you call an internal Nortel extension and the extension is either busy or ringing, you can invoke the Ring Again (Call Back) feature. When the extension monitored by the Ring Again feature becomes available, you will be notified.
The UCX Set Based Configuration feature provides the ability to associate physical Nortel phones with UCX extensions. A set can be connected and through a simple menu driven procedure (using the sets display and keypad) the user can finish the configuration of the set.
Shared Call Appearances (SCA) were implemented to address the request for key system features like call appearances and the public hold (a.k.a. transfer on hold) capability.
It was developed so that existing M1/CS1000 users could easily add UCX as a voice mail system. It allows UCX to control the message waiting light on Nortel digital sets, UNISTIM sets and UNISTIM soft clients.
Voicemail Escalation initiates a call to a configured internal or external telephone number when a message is left in a voicemail mailbox in order to ensure that voicemail messages are promptly handled. The call is repeated periodically (every 10 minutes) until messages from the mailbox are retrieved.
Users can receive email notification of new messages left in their voice mailbox and the voice message can also be sent as an attachment to the user as well. This allows users to listen to their voicemail messages without having to login to their voice mailbox.
The ZapBarge feature on UCx provides the ability to listen to the conversation on a specified Dahdi channel, or prompts if one is not specified. You can hear them, but they cannot hear you. No indication is given to the other parties that their call is being listened to.
